RESULTS OF THE 2018 NOMINATION/ELECTION PROCESS FOR PRESIDENT, BOARD MEMBERS & REGIONAL COORDINATORS FOR RSL SA/NT

b. Board members – Trevor Whitelaw (Brighton), Cheryl Cates (Largs Bay), Bob Shewring (Darwin), Wayne Langford (Tea Tree Gully)
c. Regional Coordinators – Wayne Langford (A4 North), David Laing (C2 Murray), Brad Flaherty (E1 West Eyre Peninsula and E2 South Eyre Peninsula), Garry Wellington (G1 Stanley), Bob Shewring (H1 & H2 Northern Territory)
2. Election Process
There was only one nomination for each vacant position and therefore in accordance with Section 14 (a) of By-Law 9, the returning officer has declared that all candidates are duly elected.
3. Terms to be served
a. Regional Coordinators – full term of three (3) years
b. Board members – in order that the retirement of board members be staggered rather than occurring all in the same year, the Returning Officer drew lots to determine the terms to be served. The result of this process was as follows;
i. President Bronson Horan – 1 year
ii. Tony Flaherty – 1 year still to serve as he was duly elected in 2016
iii. Wayne Langford – 2 years
iv. Trevor Whitelaw – 2 years
v. Bob Shewring – 3 years
vi. Cheryl Cates – 3 years
4. Time for Taking Office
In accordance with Section 27 of By-Law 9, successful nominees will take up their positions at the Conclusion of the Business Day of the 2018 Sub-Branch Conference.
5. Appointments to the Board
In accordance with Section 39.1 (b) the elected board members will identify and recruit up to three (3) external persons to be appointed to the board to ensure skills gaps are rectified. Members will be notified of these appointments via a communication from State Branch to their Sub-Branch Secretaries as the appointments occur.
