The Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide was established on 8 July 2021. Under the Letters Patent, the Royal Commissioners were initially required to produce an interim report by 11 August 2022 and a final report by 15 June 2023. The interim report was tabled on August 11th 2022 and is now available here bit.ly/3zKTkNb. In April 2022 the Chair of the Commission announced a 12-month extension of the inquiry as vital to thoroughly investigate the complex factors that contribute to deaths by suicide. The Commission may also make other recommendations, as necessary, without waiting for its final report in June 2024.
