VIETNAM DAY COMMEMORATION 18/8/24
A well attended Vietnam War Commemorative Service was held at the Vietnam War Memorial, Torrens Parade Ground, Adelaide on Sunday 18 August 2024.
His Majesty King Charles the Third
His Majesty King Charles III has accepted patronage of the Returned & Services League of Australia (RSL). This continues the RSL’s long association with the monarchy, following on from the more than 70-year patronage of the League by the King’s mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.

ABORIGINAL VETERANS COMMEMORATION 31/5/24
Aboriginal Veterans SA hosted a successful commemoration with several hundred attendees - veterans, families and the public during Reconciliation Week. Held at the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander War Memorial, Victoria Drive, Adelaide at on Friday 31st May.
VIETNAM WAR CITATION
Some ADF members who served during the Vietnam War have been recognised with the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.
The Citation was awarded by the former Government of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) to military units that distinguished themselves in battle. The Governor-General has formally approved the awarding of the Citation to Australian military units in recognition of their service during the Vietnam War.
PETER BADCOE VC ANZAC MEDAL WINNERS
Major Peter Badcoe was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for valour for several actions during the Vietnam War. The Peter Badcoe VC Anzac Round Medal is presented to the footballer who is judged as best displaying the Anzac Spirit during the AFL Anzac Round Match.

GRAVE DEDICATIONS WW1 VETERANS
On 19 and 21 March 2024, Aboriginal Veterans SA dedicated the previously unmarked graves of two First World War veterans, Private Alick Wright of the 10th Battalion in Cleve, and Trooper Harry Peel of the 3rd Light Horse Regiment in Port Augusta.
SA PUBLIC HOLIDAY BILL RESOLUTION
The RSL State President and the state government have achieved a satisfactory resolution resulting from veteran and public misunderstandings arising from reporting on the SA Public Holidays Bill 2023.
10th ANNIVERSARY MEMORIAL OPENING
On Friday 10 November, Aboriginal Veterans SA hosted a service to mark the 10th anniversary of the dedication of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander War Memorial by the then Governor-General.
The 11am service was at the Torrens Parade Ground, Adelaide.
RSL Calls for Greater Spending and Increased Army Priority
The RSL has called on the Federal Government to increase defence spending and ensure that our nation’s Defence Forces are balanced and appropriate for the current unstable strategic environment in our region.
