AUSTRALIAN ARMY CHANGES

The Government has outlined key changes to the Australian Army’s units and formations – as well as changes to equipment locations – to boost capabilities, preparedness and projection.
Defence Minister Richard Marles said the changes were in response to recommendations of the Defence Strategic Review to maintain peace, security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

The 10th/27th Battalion, The Royal South Australia Regiment exercised the 10th Battalion’s Freedom of Entry to the City of Adelaide on Saturday 12th of August with swords drawn, rifles carried, drums beating, colours flying and armour protecting.

Aboriginal Veterans' Commemorative Service 2023

Aboriginal Veterans SA was honoured to be coordinating the annual Aboriginal Veterans' Commemorative Service on Friday 2 June, at the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander War Memorial, during Reconciliation Week, to acknowledge all First Nations people who have served our country since the Second Boer War.

An open invitation was extended to all veterans, families, ADF and the general public to attend the service at the Torrens Parade Ground, Adelaide.

SUBMISSION: FOR NON-LIABILITY HEALTHCARE FOR RESERVISTS

The RSL, along with the Defence Reserves Association, and the Defence Force Welfare Association, have made a joint submission to the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel, Matt Keogh, seeking his support for the extension of non-liability health care (NLHC) for all Defence Reservists.

NLHC enables eligible veterans to access treatment at DVAs’ expense for specified conditions without establishing a link to service and allows prompt access to mental health treatment.

MESSINES MURAL, EDWARDSTOWN SA

Messines Avenue and Mons Avenue at Edwardstown, South Australia, were named to commemorate Great War Battles. For decades an Avenue of Honour of two rows of English Elm trees on Messines Avenue has been a visible reminder of the tremendous loss, sacrifice and service.


A new mural on a building wall on the northern side of the avenue is a visual depiction of Great War scenes and memorabilia.
